NOMINATION : Philippe Delmas, former Airbus VP, takes over as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Quobly

May 12, 2025

Quobly

Vice-President of Airbus from 1998 to 2006, Philippe Delmas has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Quobly, a French company pioneering quantum microelectronics, just as it is on the verge of producing the first silicon chip integrating qubits, based on the proven semiconductor industrial process.

Philippe Delmas will support Quobly in the industrialization, preparation and marketing of its silicon quantum microprocessor, scheduled for 2027.

Born in 1954, Philippe Delmas is a graduate of ENSAE and ENA, a magistrate at the Cour des Comptes and a former cabinet member of the French Foreign Affairs Ministry. From 1993 to 1998, he managed the development of Matra’s Space division, now known as Astrium, and then of all Matra Haute Technologies activities. He followed Noël Forgeard in 1998, assisting him at Airbus as Vice-President until 2006. Since 2007, he has headed PhD Associates, a consulting and investment firm.

His appointment is a significant step forward in Quobly’s drive to industrialize silicon quantum processors. Philippe Delmas’s background encompasses both the complexities of managing large groups and the dynamic challenges of fostering rapid growth in start-up environments.

For Maud Vinet, CEO of Quobly :

«  Philippe Delmas’s presence  will accelerate our path towards mass production of a silicon quantum microprocessor .»

Quobly can rely on a global, multi-disciplinary team of over 70 scientists, physicists and technology experts, with over 150 years’ experience in quantum engineering and silicon technology.

About Quobly :

Quobly is a pioneer in quantum microelectronics. The company is developing a quantum chip on silicon using the existing industrial semiconductor manufacturing process. Founded in 2022, the company draws on 15 years of collaborative research between internationally renowned Research and Technology Organizations (RTO), CEA-Leti and CNRS. Based in Grenoble, Quobly was co-founded by Maud Vinet, Ph.D. in quantum physics, author or co-author of over 300 papers and holder of more than 70 nanotechnology-related patents, Tristan Meunier, a world-renowned expert in semiconductor quantum engineering, trained under Serge Haroche, winner of the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics, and François Perruchot, PhD in solid-state physics, engineer, expert in sensor development, modeling and characterization of MEM micro-sensors. Quobly has signed several strategic and operational partnerships with Soitec, Orano, Air Liquide and recently with ST Microelectronics to accelerate the manufacturing process of its “silicon quantum chip”. In 2023, Quobly raised €19 million, setting a new record for seed financing for a European start-up in the quantum sector. https://quobly.io/.
