CEA-Leti and Quobly Strengthen Their Collaboration to Accelerate the Development of Next-Generation Silicon Quantum Technologies
Sep 28, 2026

Grenoble, France – September 28, 2026 – Quobly, a French company developing silicon-based quantum computers, and CEA-Leti, a leading research institute in microelectronics and information technologies, are strengthening their long-standing collaboration through access to the FAMES Pilot Line, which complements Quobly’s industrial collaboration with STMicroelectronics and supports its technology roadmap.
At FAMES, a pioneering initiative promoting semiconductor technologies in Europe by supporting the emergence of higher-performance, more energy-efficient, and more sustainable chip designs, Quobly can access advanced semiconductor equipment and process modules to develop and evaluate new process flows and patterning approaches for later processor generations.
A Long-Standing Collaboration on Silicon Quantum Technology
Founded in 2022 on more than 15 years of research at CEA-Leti and CNRS, Quobly builds on a long-standing collaboration in silicon spin-qubit technology. In 2016, CEA-Leti and its research partners demonstrated a silicon spin qubit fabricated using an industrial CMOS process based on FD-SOI technology on a 300 mm wafer. Since its creation, Quobly and CEA-Leti have continued to collaborate on silicon spin-qubit technologies and the technology building blocks underlying Quobly’s QSOI® architecture. QSOI® combines silicon spin qubits with an FD-SOI semiconductor platform and is being industrialized with STMicroelectronics using their 300 mm manufacturing infrastructure.
This collaboration supports the development of key technology building blocks for the integration, control, and scaling of silicon spin qubits, as Quobly advances toward increasingly scalable quantum processor architectures.
Nicolas Daval, chief engineering officer of Quobly, said: “Quobly was founded on more than 15 years of research at CEA-Leti and CNRS to develop silicon spin-qubit technology. Our collaboration with CEA-Leti has continued since the company’s creation, while our partnership with STMicroelectronics is enabling us to industrialize QSOI® on 300 mm semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure. Access to FAMES adds another capability to this ecosystem, allowing us to explore and mature technology options for the next generations of our quantum processors.”
FAMES Contributes to Extending Technology Development Capabilities for Future Generations
As a user of the FAMES Pilot Line, Quobly can access advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment and process modules to explore and mature new technology options for future generations of its quantum processors.
In particular, FAMES provides an environment to develop and evaluate innovative process flows and patterning approaches, complementing the industrial manufacturing roadmap being pursued with STMicroelectronics.
Jean-René Lequepeys, chief technology officer of CEA-Leti, said: “The collaboration with Quobly builds on a long-standing research effort in silicon quantum technologies and continues to connect advanced semiconductor process development with the requirements of quantum computing. FAMES provides Quobly with access to state-of-the-art process capabilities to investigate new technology options and support the development of future generations of silicon quantum processors.”
By combining CEA-Leti’s semiconductor research and process development capabilities with Quobly’s expertise in silicon spin qubits and its industrial partnerships, the collaboration contributes to the continued development of the technology required to scale silicon quantum processors.
Quobly plans to commercialize its first quantum computer, Alloy Pioneer, by the end of 2026, with a roadmap extending toward large-scale, fault-tolerant architectures targeting one million qubits by 2032.
About Quobly
Quobly is building the first industrially scalable quantum computer by combining silicon spin qubits with advanced semiconductor manufacturing. Founded in 2022 in Grenoble, France, the company has developed a unique co-design approach with STMicroelectronics, bringing quantum processors and cryogenic control electronics onto a proven 300mm FD-SOI manufacturing platform and enabling an approach in which the quantum-computing capacity can scale through semiconductor-style integration and manufacturing.
Quobly’s Alloy product family combines a commercial product roadmap with a long-term scaling strategy: first cloud access from the end of 2026 for high-performance computing and research users, and a target of one million qubits by 2032. This roadmap applies the same VLSI (Very Large-Scale Integration) principle that transformed classical computing: increasing computational capacity through semiconductor integration rather than increases in physical infrastructure. This creates a path toward predictable system footprint, energy requirements, manufacturing economics and customer ROI as quantum computing scales.
The company leverages Europe’s industrial semiconductor ecosystem, building and securing a Si-28 value chain with strategic partners including Air Liquide, Soitec and Orano to accelerate the industrialization of its quantum processors, reduce deployment risk and support long-term scalability.
In June 2026, Quobly raised a €115 million Series A led by Bpifrance, STMicroelectronics and SEALSQ, with participation from leading industrial and deeptech investors, to accelerate the commercialization of its Alloy product family. With more than 120 employees, Quobly is headquartered in Grenoble, France, with subsidiaries in Singapore and Canada.
